Walking beneath the Eiger

Choose a direction and allow for the descent.

Updated:

The Eiger Trail links Eigergletscher and Alpiglen beneath the north face. From Eigergletscher, the operator describes a medium-difficulty walk of about six kilometres and two hours, with nearly 780 metres of descent. The reverse direction is a sustained climb and takes longer.

Add transport to and from the stations, then check trail status and mountain weather. Bring proper hiking shoes, water, food and layers. Steep or wet sections need care. This is different from the gentler Jungfrau Eiger Walk and from the Rotstock via ferrata, which requires climbing equipment and skills.
