Lauterbrunnen: a village, a valley and the waterfalls

Spend time below Staubbach Falls, walk into the valley and decide whether to add Trümmelbach or a mountain railway to your day.

Staubbach Falls hangs above the village, so your Lauterbrunnen day starts with a view before you have gone very far. From the village, follow the valley towards Stechelberg and turn back when it suits your time and energy. Trümmelbach is a separate stop, with paid entry to waterfalls inside the mountain. Wengen or Mürren can add a view from higher up on a clear day, but a village wander and one valley walk are already a perfectly good outing.

What to look forward to

  • Staubbach Falls above the village roofs
  • A walk into the valley towards Stechelberg
  • Trümmelbach inside the mountain, when open

Before you go

The Staubbach gallery and Trümmelbach access are seasonal. Trümmelbach does not admit children up to and including age four or dogs. Wear shoes with grip for wet steps, and leave time to get back from whichever valley stop you choose.
