A quiet bay is a good place to begin a paddling day. On Lake Thun, rental stations offer canoes and paddleboards; agree the return point before setting off, especially for a one-way plan. Wind and boat traffic deserve more attention than a tempting photograph of the opposite shore.
For a guided kayak outing, Hightide operates from Bönigen on Lake Brienz. Guided trips and independent hire have different support and participation rules. Ask which fits your group. The operator’s winter kayaking is a separate product with different clothing and preparation; summer SUP hire should not be assumed to continue year-round.
