Via ferratas and mountain tours

Iron ladders and exposed rock: choose a route for your experience, then check conditions.

Updated:

A photograph of a ladder beside a waterfall can make a via ferrata look wonderfully simple. On the rock, exposure, tired legs and the next section matter much more. Allmenalp above Kandersteg and the route from Mürren offer very different days; neither belongs in the same category as a lakeside stroll.

Choose the route before renting equipment. Read its official grade, approach, escape options and descent arrangements, and book a qualified guide if you lack the skills. Dry, settled conditions matter. If heights already make you uneasy on ordinary paths, choose another outing without feeling you missed a compulsory Swiss experience.
