The Wengernalp Railway takes you from Lauterbrunnen to car-free Wengen. Drivers leave their cars below. Once you arrive, give the village some time before continuing towards another mountain: a meal, a terrace or a suitable walk can be the whole visit.
For an overnight stay, check the walk from the station to the actual address. Car-free does not mean flat, and bags make a difference. Staying here suits days centred on this side of the mountains; trips elsewhere include the ride back down. The accommodation on this site is around Lake Thun, not in Wengen.
